USA vs Mexico Match Preview
The stage is set at the TQL Stadium, where the top two teams in CONCACAF will square off in what should prove a tense World Cup qualification tussle between old rivals USA and Mexico.
The visitors will start the game as group leaders, three points clear of the USMNT in second place, but having lost each of their last two meetings with the USA, Mexico will kick-off the contest as slight underdogs.
Gregg Berhalter’s star-studded US side have been frustrating supporters with their recent performances however – many of which have been unconvincing – though their 2-1 comeback win over Costa Rica last time out was a timely one after a surprise 1-0 reverse in Panama.
Mexico meanwhile, remain unbeaten in the group so far and their record of four wins and two draws from six fixtures in the section should allow them to approach their key clash later this week with confidence.
The USA haven’t lost at home since 2019 however – a run that started directly after a 3-0 defeat to Mexico in New Jersey, so bettors are advised to steer clear of the match result markets this week.
Instead, a bet on both teams to score could be a smarter play. The USA have notched for 17 straight games on home soil, while Mexico have only failed to find the net once in their last 12 international tests.
With Christian Pulisic back in the squad and hotshot Ricardo Pepi leading the line, the USA have plenty of attacking talent at their disposal, while Mexico boasts the skills of fit-again Raul Jimenez, Porto star Jesus Corona and Napoli’s Hirving Lozano in their frontline.
There is enough star quality on show here to produce action at both ends in Ohio, so stick to the goals markets here.
