FC Cincinnati vs New York Red Bulls Match Preview
Just as we predicted – New York Red Bulls were unable to harness the momentum from their Hudson River Derby victory and a disappointing 1-1 draw with Philadelphia Union in midweek felt like another missed opportunity.
Both the Red Bulls and Union grabbed their goals in the first half before huffing and puffing in the second and a share of the spoils felt like the right result for a clash between two well-matched sides.
FC Cincinnati meanwhile, started their post-Jaap Stam era with a 3-2 defeat to Toronto and subsequently replaced the Canadians at the foot of the Eastern Conference standings.
The Orange and Blue have now lost four MLS assignments on the bounce and really, the end of the 2021 campaign can’t come quick enough.
Motivation could be an issue for Cincinnati this weekend when they take on a New York Red Bulls outfit desperate to grab the victory they need to keep their flicking playoff hopes alive.
Goals are still proving hard to come by for Gerhard Struber’s team, though NYRB did manage to produce the goods in each of their last two away trips and they could complete a hattrick of victories on the road against a Cincinnati side that has won just once at home all season.
Omir Fernandez was Red Bulls’ match-changer against Union and their match-winner against New York City FC, and the 22-year-old local hero is one to watch again on Saturday.

FC Cincinnati vs New York Red Bulls Picks
New York Red Bulls to Win +145 (DraftKings)
New York Red Bulls were foiled at home by Union in midweek, though their recent performances on the road – coupled with Cincinnati’s dreadful home form – suggest that more away day success is on the cards on Saturday.
Back-to-back wins and clean sheets at Inter Miami and New York City FC were achieved in impressive style and the Red Bulls’ tactical set-up under Gerhard Struber seems to work best away from their own patch.
Cincinnati have won only once in 11 attempts at home this season and they are worth opposing again this weekend against a NYRB side desperately seeking points to aid their late playoff push.
Under 2.5 Goals -105 (DraftKings)
New York Red Bulls have been consistent performers in the under 2.5 goals market of late with six of their last eight MLS fixtures falling below the line.
Bettors are advised to back the same option on Saturday when NYRB visit goal-shy Cincinnati, who have netted fewer times at home (9) than any other club in the MLS this season.
In addition, it’s worth noting that just a single effort was notched across the last two meetings between FC Cincinnati and New York Red Bulls, so expect a game decided by slim margins in Ohio.
FC Cincinnati vs New York Red Bulls Parlay
New York Red Bulls Win and Under 2.5 +475 (DraftKings)
