BetMGM have been signing up ex-sports stars left, right and centre this year and in their latest coup, the company have announced the addition of former NFL running back Chris Johnson to their Brand Ambassador roster.
The former Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals stalwart is a firm fan favorite and Johnson will feature in BetMGM’s upcoming marketing campaigns, promotions, social media content and events.
In the official release from BetMGM, Johnson said: “I’m excited to join the BetMGM team and to have a new platform to engage with CJ2K fans around the country. BetMGM is at the forefront of the excitement surrounding sports betting and is a perfect fit for me to get involved in this rapidly growing industry.”
Matt Prevost, Chief Revenue Officer, BetMGM, added, “Throughout his career, Chris Johnson thrilled fans with his performance on the football field, week in and week out. As we continue to expand BetMGM’s presence in Arizona and Tennessee, Chris will play a key role in helping us provide new and engaging experiences for our customers.”

Chris Johnson profile
Over the course of his career in the NFL – which spanned 10 seasons – Johnson was one of the league’s most impactful players. The running back earned the moniker “CJ2K” in 2009 when he rushed for 2,006 yards for the Titans, making him one of just eight players in sport’s history to burn past 2,000 rushing yards in a single campaign. Unsurprisingly, Johnson was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year for 2009 for his exploits.
Johnson joins expanding list of high-profile BetMGM Brand Ambassadors
BetMGM’s list of Brand Ambassadors just keeps on growing and Chris Johnson will be in good company as part of the company’s efforts to expand their reach.
In March, NBA player Jalen Rose joined BetMGM in a similar role to engage with BetMGM customers and MGM Resorts’ M Life Rewards loyalty members, both virtually and in-person.
“The excitement around sports and the growth of sports betting, and BetMGM in particular, this year has been special to witness,” Rose said in a media release. “I’m beyond excited to go from a spectator to a player joining the BetMGM team, continuing to defy industry expectations.”
Two more household names, Wayne Gretzky and Barry Sanders, also joined BetMGM as brand ambassadors earlier this year, while ex-NFL running back Marshawn Lynch joined forces with the company in July.
“Being part of the BetMGM family is dope and an honor. They’re the leaders in online gaming so I’m excited to learn about the industry from the best and find ways where I can have an impact,” Lynch said. “Plus, with ambassadors like Barry, Gretzky and Jalen, I think da’ kid is in good company, ya know what I mean?”
Most recently, NBA legend Kevin Garnett signed on the dotted line with BetMGM to expand their Brand Ambassador ranks.
