Who is going to win the 21/22 NBA-Championship?

A quick view on the new NBA-season with the looks on the biggest favourites.

We are looking into a new NBA season which will start in a couple of months. The 17th of October to be exact.

And after a special season infected by the covid-19 virus, we are looking forward to see a – hopefully – more normal season in the worlds best basket league, NBA.

In this little post I will look into the teams that are the favourites to take home the title as NBA-champions 21/22. Throughout the summer we have seen a lot of trades between the rosters, and some of them very exciting as well.

In the 20/21 campaign, Milwaukee Bucks ended up as the winners in a six-match final against Phoenix Suns. If one of the finalists are going to win it this year, you can have 9.50 or 17.00 times the money, as the odds stands right now. However, it will be difficult for Bucks or Suns to reach the finals this year.

The bookmakers favourites to take home the title is the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets have in this window most notably lost Spencer Dinwiddie to the Wizards and Jeff Green and Shamet as well to Nuggets and Suns. On the contrary, they have signed the Spurs-guard Patty Mills, which will make them even harder to defend.
With Harden, Irving, Durant, Harris, Mills etc. I can’t find a better alternative to be the favourite to the title. I mean, this will be suck an exciting team to watch this season, and the big issue for the Nets will be their defence. If they can deal with that, nobody can compete with their offensive quality.

Their worst rivals according to the bookmakers will be Lakers. And I agree. The Lakers have ‘cleaned up’, and have most notably lost Caldwell-Pope, Drummond, Kuzma, Schroder and McLemore. To cover those losses they have brought in Russell Westbrook, which is maybe the biggest signing of the summer. How interesting it will be to see him alongside Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Also interesting signings in Kendrick Nunn, Carmelo, Trevor Ariza, Bazemore and Howard. But all in all, I think 4.5 is a quite low odds to see the Lakers win the NBA this year, mostly because I can have some doubt in their second-best players. However, they will be interesting to watch, and specially the dynamics between James and Westbrook are going to be buzzin’!

It is funny to see a team like the Golden State Warriors being up as the fourth favourite winning the championship when we remember what kind of season the last one was. But Otto Porter Jr., Bjelica and the return of Andre Igoudala could bring some glory back to the team. And a fresh Steph’, of course.

Should I recommend a longshot for the season, to be the winners, I think the odds 17.00 on the Phoenix Suns is too high. The finalists from last year are building up, even more, this year, and can they find the track from last season it can end up really well, again. They have signed Payton and JaVale McGee.

We are looking forward to the season, and hope to have a lot of fun. WITH spectators, thank you!
