The AFC East will not be decided on Monday night, but the primetime showdown between the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills sure will help put one of them in an advantageous position moving forward. Needless to say that the matchup between the 8-4 Patriots and 7-4 Bills can be classified as “high-stakes.”

In order for the Patriots to come away victoriously, they will need to play some solid football in all three phases.

While the absence of cornerback Tre’Davious White will be big for the Bills’ defense, it’s the recent trend of turning the ball over that is the key to watch when the Patriots and Bills face off. Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen has thrown seven interceptions in his past four games and lost one fumble. Thus far, Buffalo’s defense has been able to bail the team out, but New England will be a tougher task, especially considering the defense has forced a league-high 20 turnovers since Week 5. Allen maintaining his composure will be crucial, and he could be assisted by two starting offensive linemen potentially returning to the starting lineup.

While Buffalo is the defending division champion and AFC runner-up, New England has been the better team lately. The Patriots are winners of six in a row and are doing way more than just winning. New England’s last six wins have come by an average of 24.7 points. The most recent win was 36-13 drubbing of the Tennessee Titans. Mac Jones passed for 310 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Damian Harris ran for another while kicker Nick Folk made 5-of-6 field goals. This offense has quickly become a top-10 unit in the NFL, but the defense has been far superior. New England leads the league in points per game allowed — only one of the last six opponents has managed more than 20 points — and has 17 takeaways during this winning streak. If you need any other reason to bet the Patriots, they’re a perfect 5-0 on the road and are 2-1 as an underdog this year.
