New England Revolution have taken the Eastern Conference by storm this season and their remarkable resurgence under experienced coach Bruce Arena has been one of the campaign’s most compelling storylines.

The Revs’ 2-1 victory at home to Montreal Impact on Sunday was their third MLS win on the spin and their eighth in 11 fixtures overall since mid-May, and their early surge has allowed them to open up an impressive seven-point lead at the summit of the Eastern Conference.

New England have accumulated more points, won more games and scored more goals than any other MLS club in 2021 so far, and with Argentinean striker Gustavo Bou and Spanish schemer Carles Gil racking up the goals and assists, the Revs’ hot streak looks set to continue.

New York Red Bulls meanwhile, continue to look flat and their lack of thrust in the final third resulted in them dropping more points to an energetic D.C United team in Washington at the weekend.

NYRB mustered just a single shot on target when they were pipped to the points in the capital and their eventual 1-0 defeat pushed their winless run to three games.

Gerhard Struber’s misfiring attack is averaging just 1.28 goals per 90 minutes this season and having already been outgunned twice this term by Revolution (3-1 on May 23 and 3-2 June 24), Red Bulls could be trampled by their more expansive opponents again.

New York Red Bulls vs New England Revolution Picks

New England Revolution Double Chance – 8/13 (bet365)

With just three losses in 11 MLS matchups, New England’s form is superb and they look an extremely generous price in bet365’s double chance market.

The Revs have won each of their last two meetings with NYRB, netting six times in the process, and they have lost just one of their last seven tussles with the Red Bulls overall.

That record coupled with Revolution’s confident, table-topping performances makes them favorites to avoid defeat in New Jersey this week.

Over 1.5 New England Revolution Team Goals +130 (DraftKings)

We touched on it earlier, but New England have the most potent attack in the MLS this season with 30 goals in just 16 matches so far.

Six of those goals were plundered in just two meetings with New York Red Bulls and the Revs have scored at least twice in six of their most recent eight fixtures.

Revolution hit the net five times in their last road match at Inter Miami, while keeping leading marksman Gustavo Bou in reserve, though the Argentinean forward returned to the XI with two goals against Impact on Sunday.

With the huge amount of goal-getting power at their disposal, New England are available at a price worth backing on the over 1.5 team goal line with DraftKings.
