Juventus vs Chelsea Match Preview
Current European champions Chelsea tasted defeat for the first time this season on Saturday when they were beaten at home by Premier League title rivals Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
While the final score itself (0-1) wasn’t emphatic, the flow of the game and the dominance City showed in London was considerable and the Blues failed to muster a single shot on target against their impressive visitors.
In truth, Chelsea’s performances have been wilting a little in recent weeks. They looked sluggish against Zenit in their Champions League Group H opener on September 14, while Aston Villa gave them a couple of stern tests in the Premier League and Carabao Cup.
The regression in their effectiveness comes at an opportune time for an improving Juventus, who finally seem to be finding their feet under returning boss Max Allegri.
The Old Lady managed to win three of their last four assignments and their haul of ten goals during the same set of fixtures is a promising return and a sign of a team finding their flow in attack.
Alongside their own spike in form, Juventus have a solid Champions League home record to draw confidence from. The Italian giants have won nine of their last 11 games in the competition in Turin and on Wednesday they host a club that often seem to come unstuck when visiting Italy.
Chelsea have lost each of their last four trips to play Italian clubs on the Mediterranean peninsula and they will have to reverse that hang up to enjoy success in Turin this week.

Juventus vs Chelsea Picks
Juventus Double Chance @ 5/6 (bet365)
Chelsea’s confidence is certain to have been wobbled a little by the manner of their defeat to Man City on Saturday and we think Juventus are well placed to capitalize on any fragility in their visitor’s ranks.
Juve are rarely beaten in front of their own supporters in the Champions League and they have the experience and big-game nous – especially in defense – to make life difficult for Chelsea.
At 5/6, Juve are an interesting price in the double chance market this week and we recommend you take that bet. Chelsea are a little overvalued in what should be a stern test for the Blues in Italy, and the smart money rests on opposing them.
Under 2.5 Goals -135 (DraftKings)
Thomas Tuchel has Chelsea masterfully well-drilled in defense, though the Blues aren’t quite as impressive further up the pitch and they are rarely prolific in the final third.
The German’s tactical blueprint tends to produce plenty of low-scoring games and 100% of Chelsea’s last nine games in the Champions League have delivered under 2.5 goals.
With Paolo Dybala out injured, Juventus are almost certain to play with a degree of caution on Wednesday and we expect them to lean heavily on defensive play to force a result.
The factors suggest that this week’s clash in Turin could be settled by slim margins, so back under 2.5 goals to hit the net with DraftKings
