Honduras vs United States Match Preview
The USMNT traipsed off to a chorus of boos in Nashville at the weekend following yet another limp display in their dreary 1-1 draw with cross-border rivals Canada in Tennessee.
The result – which was the United States’ second stalemate in as many games – left the Stars and Stripes hovering near the midsection of their World Cup Qualification group, and while their place in next year’s tournament isn’t under immediate threat, their manager’s job might be.
Even though he had the majority of his biggest names at his disposal, Head Coach Gregg Berhalter once again failed to get the best out of his talented charges and his reluctance to use his bench until late on against Canada has made him a lightning rod for criticism in the game’s aftermath.
Berhalter’s increasing unpopularity among USMNT supporters seems to be impacting the players, who look low on confidence and the United States look vulnerable to an upset when they travel to take on Honduras later this week.
The Hondurans have made a tentative start to their own qualification adventure, taking a point from each of their group openers against Canada and arch-rivals El Salvador, though they are still handily placed in fourth spot ahead of the next round of fixtures.
14 of their current squad play their football in Honduras, something that gives Fabian Coito’s roster a real togetherness and unity of purpose, especially at home, where Los Catrachos were undefeated in 14 of their last 17 matches.

Honduras vs United States Picks
Honduras Double Chance – 6/4 (bet365)
Honduras were beaten 1-0 by the USA in the CONCACAF Nations League in June, though that loss was suffered on American soil and back in their homeland Los Catrachos will be more confident of causing an upset.
Confidence is certainly the watchword in San Pedro Sula this week and spirits in the USA camp will be low after their resolve was dented by their draw with Canada and the subsequent reaction from the home crowd.
Honduras – who have lost just three of their last 17 fixtures at home – will be keen to take advantage of any fragility in their visitor’s ranks and with their strength on home soil a major factor, they look an excellent price in the double chance market.
Under 2.5 Goals -130 (DraftKings)
Much of the ire among US supporters at present is rooted in their team’s lack of attacking thrust under Gregg Berhalter.
The American’s current crop are considered a golden generation, yet they have scored one or fewer times in seven of their last eight fixtures.
In addition, 100% of their last six fixtures produced under 2.5 goals overall and on Thursday, the USA’s misfiring frontline take on a Honduras outfit that have scored just once in 180 minutes of World Cup qualification action so far.
With consistent goal-scorers lacking on both sides, we’re selecting under 2.5 goals as our second pick.

Honduras vs United States Team News
Honduras team news
Fabian Coito will likely keep faith with the crux of the team that drew 0-0 with El Salvador on Sunday, meaning Antony Lozano and Rommel Quioto should be paired again up front.
Key midfielder Bryan Acosta plays his football in the MLS with FC Dallas as does his veteran counterpart Boniek García, who is a Houston Dynamo regular. Both players are set to play in the middle of the park this week.
United States team news
Christian Pulisic made his long-awaited return for the USA against Canada and the creative midfielder should feature again in Honduras.
Josh Sargent will be pushing to start following the USMNT’s limp attacking display against the Canadians, while Konrad de la Fuente will also be hoping to feature from the first whistle.
